The Mentulls
Time Flies
Self Released
http://www.thementulls.com

This is an album of nine self-penned numbers that are recollections of the sixties; but what is missing is that the sound being produced was neither mainstream or safe the onslaught from the bands of that era was a challenge to your perceptions. This is a well produced album with some great guitar licks, percussion drumming and vocals that harmonise well with the musical line. They are not ramping up the amps so that the sound is blasting but at times it is flat for me rather one-dimensional. They straddle genres neither rock nor blues and somehow for me they fall between the gap… I say to this band of individually talented young men bridge that gap by filling in some of your own sound and stop trying to reproduce and develop The Mentulls sound and feel. This album was released in 2012 and in that time they have added a few miles of road travel between gigs. I will be interested to see how they have developed, and remember music is the entertainment business and a change in tempo and some upbeat tracks are always welcomed.
